Cinema over the Uzh
screenings in Zakarpattia

2022 · Zakarpattia region

Completed

Free open-air screenings for children and families, and screenings of Ukrainian cinema for civilians and displaced people in Zakarpattia, together with the Zakarpattia Film Commission NGO.

About the project

In 2022, when thousands of displaced people arrived in the Zakarpattia region, we organised, together with the Zakarpattia Film Commission NGO, free screenings of Ukrainian films for local residents and displaced people. It was the team’s first experience, from which the foundation grew.

The screenings took place in the open air by the Uzh: a large screen and sound system were set up in the street so that children and families could watch together.

What was screened

Besides animation, the programme included feature films and Ukrainian classics:

  • “The Turtledove’s Nest” — with a greeting to the audience from the screen by Rymma Ziubina;
  • “Ivan Syla” — introduced to the audience from the screen by its director Viktor Andriienko and Vasyl Virastiuk, who plays a role in the film;
  • “Mykyta Kozhumiaka”;
  • “The Lost Letter” (“Propala hramota”) — a classic of Ukrainian cinema;
  • and other films.
