Ukrainian film network worldwide and in Ukraine

Every screening is a point of light. Together they form a constellation: cinemas, clubs and communities abroad and across Ukraine showing Ukrainian films — free or ticketed, and always with the rights holders’ permission.
Two programmes
Constellation in Ukraine
Screenings in communities across the country, including frontline and de-occupied ones: in libraries, schools, centres for displaced people, veterans’ spaces, as well as in cinemas and clubs.
Two screening formats in both programmes: free (non-commercial), with a rights holder’s permission letter, and ticketed (commercial), under a separate licence. Only from the catalogue agreed with rights holders.
Tiers, requirements and rights
These are the terms of a 6–12 month pilot call; after the pilot we will refine them based on real data.
Community

- DCP, licensed cinema server or ProRes
- What is allowed
- Free and ticketed screenings
- Participant status
- A legal entity or local equivalent entitled to hold public screenings
- Reporting
- Quarterly: audience, revenue, photos
Country hub
An organisation that coordinates screenings across a country
- Screenings per year
- from 24, in at least 3 cities
- Space and halls
- At least 3 partner venues (minimum 3 halls)
- Screening format
- As for a partner + coordination of local subtitles
- What is allowed
- Free and ticketed screenings
- Participant status
- A legal entity with a bank account and bookkeeping; film or culture experience
- Reporting
- Quarterly and annual + oversight of partners’ reports
Rights: how it works
The network works only where there is a clear legal basis. The main rules:
- The catalogue includes films only with the rights holders’ written consent. The foundation does not own the films.
- A free screening requires a permission letter; a ticketed one a licence for a territory and term, stating the number of screenings, revenue terms and reporting.
- Before offering a film in a country we check whether an exclusive distributor or other restrictions exist there.
- A licence covers public screenings only. Online streaming, recording and passing on copies are prohibited without separate consent.
- Subtitles are created and used only within the permission; shared with other countries only with the rights holder’s consent.
- Music and public-performance licences, age classification and other local rules are the venue’s responsibility under local law.
- The rights holder receives a report: dates, audience, revenue — and may audit the reporting.

Regional coordinator
An organisation that coordinates screenings across a region or several communities

- As for a venue + coordination of Ukrainian subtitles or dubbing
- What is allowed
- Free and ticketed screenings
- Participant status
- A legal entity with a bank account and bookkeeping; film or culture experience
- Safety
- A single safety protocol for all venues in the region
- Reporting
- Quarterly and annual + oversight of venues’ reports
Rights: how it works
The network works only where there is a clear legal basis. The main rules:
- The catalogue includes films only with the rights holders’ written consent. The foundation does not own the films.
- A free screening requires a permission letter; a ticketed one a licence for a territory (Ukraine or a region) and term, stating the number of screenings, revenue terms and reporting.
- We check whether an exclusive distributor holds the film in Ukraine or whether it is in current cinema release, to avoid conflict.
- Depending on the format, a Derzhkino distribution certificate and distribution rights may be required; we establish this in advance for each screening.
- Language: Ukrainian subtitles or dubbing as the state-language legislation requires; prepared with the rights holder’s consent.
- A licence covers public screenings only. Online streaming, recording and passing on copies are prohibited without separate consent.
- Music, public performance and age classification are the venue’s responsibility under Ukrainian law.
- The rights holder receives a report on each screening and may audit the reporting.

From you
- Show only films from the catalogue and only within the permission granted.
- Report audience and revenue.
- Not to record, stream online or pass on copies.
- Follow the code of conduct: no party-political campaigning and no material from the aggressor state.
- Credit the rights holders and partners in announcements.
How to join
- Application. Fill in the form below: programme, country or region, city, tier, halls and seats, planned screenings, format, equipment.
- Conversation. We clarify the venue, the right to hold public screenings, safety and your experience.
- Charter. We sign the network charter and licence terms.
- Pilot. The first 3 months are a trial period with coordinator support.
- Membership. Full participation and an annual review of figures and reporting.
